About Us
Origins
The North Dakota Public Health Association (NDPHA) was established at a town hall meeting in Fargo, ND on May 18, 1944 as a non-profit organization to improve the health of all North Dakotans. The activities of NDPHA are guided by the Governing Council which is comprised of officers elected by the membership, and of the Chairs of each of the sections of the association.
Mission
The mission of NDPHA is to improve, promote, and protect health for residents of North Dakota through leadership in policy, partnerships, and best practices. Our vision is that in North Dakota NDPHA is the leading professional organization recognized as the voice for public health.
Member Services
All members are encouraged to participate in one or more of the eight committees: Awards, Audit, APHA Capacity Building, Conference Task Force, Legislative, Membership, Nominating, and Resolutions. NDPHA members receive a quarterly newsletter, "North Dakota Public Health News" that provides information on public health issues and activities of the association. Members are kept abreast of current events, new programs and services, and are provided opportunities for professional growth, leadership, and networking with colleagues on key issues.
Meetings
NDPHA meets annually, in conjunction with the Dakota Conference on Rural and Public Health, at which time officers of the association are elected.

The association is organized into sections, each representing a discipline of public health. During the annual meeting each section elects a chair and record keeper. These sections include Environmental Health; Emergency Response; Health Policy, Planning, and Administration; Injury Prevention; Reproductive Health & Education; Nursing; Nutrition; and Tobacco Prevention. Other areas of interest include Board of Health; Disease Control; Injury Prevention; and Reproductive Health.
